Job Overview


Our Client is looking for a driven, proactive, hands-on and experienced Outgrower Program Coordinator who plans and coordinates the integrated activities of smallholder farmers’ productivity and profitability program; utilizing materials and human resources and formulating protocols to meet performance goals and targets. This position may require some weeknights and weekend hours.


 


Key Job Responsibilities



  • Implement an economically and agronomically viable outgrower strategy or model for the production and sale of local rice, maize and cotton.

  • Coordinate detailed market analysis across all the value chain segments within the portfolio.

  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and oversee activities directly related to production to accomplish business performance targets.

  • Plan and schedule the entire production and post-production programs including recruitment and selection of strong performing SHFs; planting schedules, coordinate input access and delivery, agronomy plans, training, harvesting and aggregation in line with the contractual obligation of the SHF

  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures, e.g., for crop, environment, social, credit etc.

  • Establish systems and processes for tracking activities, budgets, stocks, distributions, etc.

  • Monitor and report on project activities and impact (economic, social, and environmental) to managers and related donors.

  • Coordinate skills and competency-based training for SHFs, technical officers and supervisors to maximize productivity and quality including input use, agronomy, field trials, record keeping, post-harvest management, access to finance, access to inputs business training etc.

  • Determine staffing requirements, necessary skills, resources, and motivation to work effectively.

  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity-goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.

  • Develop proposals for grants and funding request.

  • Create, develop and maintain relationships effectively with donors, local government partners/agencies, community leaders, and others.

  • Ensure that all integrated outgrowers’ activities are fully aligned and comply with the Group crop-related protocols and relevant legislation and regulations for country operations. 

  • Keep informed of developments in the functional areas and use this information to help the Group operate with initiative and innovation.




Required Skills or Experience


a. Bachelor’s degree in in agriculture, business management, development studies or related field.


b. 5-8 years proven hands on experience in experience coordinating agri-businesses or development projects, preferably in rural Ghana. 


c. A Master’s degree in business management, development studies is an added advantage.


d. Practical knowledge of market analysis, project cycle and results-based management. 


e. Proficiency in Microsoft Project Management tools.


f. Sound judgment with excellent decision-making, influencing and negotiation skills.


g. Passion for sustainable development and Strong relationship skills with exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills. 


h. Excellent sense of leadership and initiative and Team player


i. Willingness to adapt to rural environments.


j. Project management skills Problem solving abilities.


k. Multi-cultural awareness.
