Vacancy: Turbine Operator

Job Description

Operate and monitor all equipment on the Boilers, Turbine/Generators, Steam System, and Water System.  The position report to the Maintenance Supervisor and the responsibilities include but are not limited to:-

• Know how to start and stop boilers and the turbine/generators in a safe and efficient manner and bring them on and off line;


• Maintain the determined electrical production output;


• Know how to operate service booster and treated water make-up pumps and how to valve them in and out;


• Know the controls and operation of the cooling water circulation pumps, fans and basin water level;


• Know the electrical equipment; 


• Control and operate any piece of equipment in the power plant; 


• Regularly monitor the plant Air Quality and take corrective action to prevent violations;


• Monitor, test and maintain proper power plant chemistry;


• Follow Company Policies and Procedures; and 


• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Required Skills or Experience

• The successful applicant must possess HND/EET III or its equivalent with 5 years professional work experience in Palm Oil Processing Mill with at least 3 years recent experience in a similar role.  


• The position is site based and the Company offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidates’ qualifications and experience.
