A reputable local NGO operating in northern Ghana is seeking dynamic professionals to be recruited for the under-listed job vacancies within the USAID-funded Ghana Market Systems Resilience (MSR) Project in northern Ghana.



PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Ghana Market Systems and Resilience Activity (MSR) is a five-year USAID-funded follow-on project to USAID/Ghana ADVANCE II. MSR will leverage over a decade of experience linking smallholders to markets, inputs, and services in Ghana. The project will strengthen commercial relationships between market actors, improve the rural entrepreneurship ecosystem to enable greater market participation, particularly for women and youth, expand the availability of agribusiness services, and link targeted policy initiatives to improved local economic governance. These activities will result in competitive, stronger, and more resilient markets, thus increasing inclusive agriculture-led economic growth in northern Ghana.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for supervision of staff, leading and coordinating project staff working out of the regional office, to ensure that field activities are implemented in a timely manner, in accordance with the project’s annual workplan and project implementation plan. The regional coordinator will work in close collaboration with all the project specialists based in the project office in Wa and Tamale (including Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist, Inputs Supply / Farm Services Specialist, OB / OB Network Capacity Building Specialist, Agricultural Research and Technology Specialist and other Programme Specialists) to ensure a holistic approach is used within the project.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                        




  • Employs the appropriate technical strategies and methodologies to achieve maximum benefits toward short and long-term project goals. This includes, but not limited to: 

  • Provide guidance, supervise and coordinate team members of the MSR project at the regional level for a result-oriented program implementation and efficient use and management of project resources. 

  • Lead the preparation of project planning, including annual work plans, operational budgets, and implementation strategies to achieve set objectives.

  • Provide support in the implementation of MSR activities in the region; field activities, specialists, consultants, etc.

  • Establish, maintain and leverage a good working relationship with relevant regional stakeholders for the benefit of the project; MMDAs, MDAs, Research, Innovation and Knowledge institutions, Financial Institutions, Local Authorities, etc.

  • Ensure the integration of cross-cutting themes (Gender Equality, Environmental Sustainability, Social Inclusion, Capacity Building, and other project specific cross-cutting themes) into project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.

  • Establish systems and processes for tracking activities, budgets, stocks, distributions, etc.




Required Skills or Experience



  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Economics or related field. 

  • At least 6 years working experience in NGO or related field, particularly with large donor projects.

  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive work in agricultural value chain or agribusiness development.

  • Excellent management and communications skills and ability to interact with diverse individuals/organizations.

  • Experience with working with rural smallholder farmers.
