Job Description



Introducing Sama Sama





Sama Sama is a one-stop-shop solution addressing the sanitation and hygiene needs of low-income rural and urban consumers in Ghana. It is currently [a] commercial brand that is incubated by iDE Ghana. Launched in September 2015. Its operations grew out of a partnership between iDE (International Development Enterprises) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) with the aim of designing and selling improved toilets across the three Northern Regions of the country. Sama Sama has passed through a pilot stage, and is looking to scale up its operations, with medium-term aspirations of incorporating as an independent business.

  • Project OR Division: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)


  • Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)


  • Location: Based in Tamale, with frequent day and/or overnight travel to rural areas across the Volta and Oti Regions


Purpose

The Regional Quality Control Manager (RQCM) oversees all activities in the quality control space to ensure a continuous product improvement, developing effective delivering process to reduce product delivery waiting time, develop strategies for continuous improvement in product quality both at production and delivery, deploy on field health and safety guideline for all tbo’s. RQCM is also responsible for recruiting Quality Control Managers and conducting regular quality audits. Work closely with the market development team to ensure scouting of tbo’s ahead of entering new territories.



Reports Relationships




  • Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)

  • Quality Control Managers (QCM’s) and QCC’s as direct reports.


Core Responsibilities:- Modifications may be made at any time




  • Develop and implement monthly quality assurance and control documents for sama sama toilet installation processes

  • Provide on-field coaching support to QCM and QCC’s 

  • Develop an abridged version of the environmental regulatory policy specific to toilet products to guide the quality control team

  • Develop guideline document for tbo’s on how to maximize material use and reduce installation time (document subject to review depending on product iteration)

  • Identify training needs of tbos and QCC’s and facilitate refresher training through the Market development manager

  • Ensure that all field managers adhere to health and safety practises on the field

  • Frequent site visit at least 3.5 days a week to monitor product standards and quality, also ensuring QCM and QCC pass customer satisfaction survey

  • Work closely with the customer service manager to improve on customer experience

  • Ensure the appropriate use of quality checklist and siting forms and certification of payment vouchers

  • Designing gender-sensitive products and services that fit into the WASH portfolio 

  • Check that all QCM have proper records of tbo stock levels and all GPS coordinates are picked for installed toilet




Required Skills or Experience




  • Graduated from university with degree in Civil or Process and Production Engineering

  • At least 8 years work experience in product design and /or manufacturing.

  • Experience working in rural areas and with rural communities is an asset

  • Knowledge of WASH and/or user centred design methodologies is an asset

  • Excellent spoken and written English

  • Fluency in at Dagbani, Mampruli, Ewe, and Twi (compulsory)

  • Holds a Valid License and Capability to ride a Motorbike

  • Microsoft Word and Excel
