Job Description

Street Field Worker

Our aim is to give street-connected children in Ghana a dignified life and a bright future. Our mission is to improve the safety, well-being and livelihood of street-connected children and their families.

Since the year 2000, we have been committed to nurturing an inclusive environment that embraces the diversity and uniqueness of every Child. By this, we have employed an integrated approach to strengthen Street Connected Children and their families so that together, we can find unique and tailor-made solutions for brighter prospects.

 The main goal is to contribute to a reduction of Children in street situations using an integrated approach of street work, prevention in communities, reintegration, and effective collaborations with different partners and stakeholders.

We are seeking a passionate and versatile professional to join our dynamic team, who will champion the cause of Street Connected Children at the Accra branch.

In the role of Field Social Worker, you shall:

• Visit children on the street, interact with them, offer support, and refer them for care and protection.


• Assess and counsel street-connected children and their families.


• Liaise with colleagues, other professionals, and families of street-connected children to find appropriate interventions for children in street situations.


• Arrange resources and appropriate care for street-connected children.


•  Adopt best practices and follow procedures to reunify street-connected children with their families.


•   Trace families of Clients and assess them for reintegration.


•  Write comprehensive Social Investigation Reports of cases identified.


•  Manage the transition processes involved in moving children from street situations to their families for successful reintegration.


•   Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders to harness resources for sustainable interventions for children and families.


• Prepare and hold workshops for street-connected children.


• Prepare street-connected children to go back to school.


• Collect and record basic data of the children and prepare activity reports for discussion and informed decisions

Required Skills or Experience

To thrive in this role, you should have:

•   A minimum of First Degree/Diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Integrated Development Studies, Community Development, Guidance and Counselling, Youth in Development Work or Population and Family Life Education.


•    A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children/families/communities in a Non-Profit Organization.


•   In-depth knowledge of the phenomenon of street-connected children and families in Ghana.


•   Understanding of national and international laws, conventions, charters, and policies regulating work with Children.


•  Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and practical skills in working with children.


•  Demonstrated knowledge and experience in casework, groupwork and community facilitation tools.


•  Familiarity with child-centered approaches to find solutions for street-connected children.


•  Working knowledge of database management software (a plus).


•   Ability to speak English plus any of the following languages – (Twi, Konkomba, Dagbani)


•   Excellent skills in building trusted relationships with children and families.


•   Ability to work with minimal supervision.
