Job Description

• Safely and responsibly, operate the company vehicle to transport laboratory equipment, materials, and personnel to designated locations.


• Plan routes and schedules to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of time and resources.


• Load and unload laboratory equipment and materials, ensuring proper handling and securing of items during transportation.


• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition and report any issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.


• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including speed limits, traffic signs, and parking regulations.


• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, both inside and outside, and ensure it is properly fuelled and maintained.


• Follow company policies and procedures regarding vehicle use, safety, and code of conduct.


• Assist with the coordination of delivery schedules and communicate any delays or issues to the appropriate personnel or customers.


• Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with customers and addressing their inquiries or concerns.


• Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.


• Follow proper documentation procedures for delivery receipts, invoices, and other relevant paperwork.


• Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure efficient and timely delivery of laboratory equipment and materials.


• Stay updated on local traffic conditions and alternative routes to avoid delays or road closures.


• Ensure the safety and security of laboratory equipment and materials during transportation.


• Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of yourself and others.

Required Skills or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.


• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.


• Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably with experience in transporting delicate or sensitive equipment.


• Excellent knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.


• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to following instructions and procedures.


• Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy items, if required.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.


• Reliable, punctual, and able to adhere to schedules and timelines.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, depending on delivery schedules and requirements.


• Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours, if necessary.


• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.


• Professional demeanour and a customer-focused approach.


• Familiarity with laboratory equipment or scientific terminology is an advantage.


• High level of integrity and adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.
