Purpose Of The Job

To plan, execute, and control the efficient, effective, flow and storage of goods and services, and related information from point of origin to point of delivery for the purpose of conforming to customer/client requirement. Control the flow of incoming materials and outgoing materials to ensure customers receive products on time whilst liaising with warehouse to oversee inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation.



Essential Functions And Responsibilities





  • Manage, co-ordinate and liaise effectively with suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.

  • Timely delivery of logistics support.

  • Follows laid down procedures to execute logistics request.

  • No record of damaged goods or equipment transported.

  • Timely payment of Logistics vendors.

  • Coordinate logistics activities with procurement, finance, and other substantive depts.

  • Maintain accurate tracker on all logistics request.

  • Identify, plan and manage all logistics operations

  • Ensure the right items are delivered on time according to the specification

  • Communication with customers regarding parts and delivery times

  • Communications with internal and external suppliers regarding deliveries

  • Ensuring that PO’s raised meet the expected criteria

  • Preparation of delivery documentation and liaison with shippers to ensure shipments are received as per the details without challenges

  • Ensure the adherence to the correct export documentation and customs conditions.

  • Assist all departments with quotations and logistics needs.




 Other Duties & Responsibilities




  • Managing delivery timetables

  • overseeing the arrival goods

  • managing clerical, administrative and logistics staff

  • monitoring performance and making sure targets are met

  • source components under pressure

  • monitor and develop existing logistics processes

  • implement cost-saving initiatives

  • Comply with SHERQ policies and procedures;

  • Take personal responsibility for your Health and Safety and others within the company;

  • Ensure not to put other people, fellow employees and members of the public at risk by what you do or do not do in the course of your work.

  • Participate in inspections and investigations of accidents;

  • At all-time wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed or required;

  • Not to operate any machinery or equipment without receiving the proper instructions;

  • Always report all accidents, near misses, injuries or symptoms, no matter how minor, immediately or within 12 hours to your manager or supervisor so that they can work with you towards prevention of reoccurring;

  • Encourage co-workers to work Defensively and Safely;

  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions to your manager or supervisor, and also on the requisite forms such as google reporting platform via the link provided where this is applicable and wherever possible remedy those conditions to ensure that no one gets hurt;

  • Always check that guards and safety devices on equipment are used as instructed;

  • Maintain equipment in good and safe working order;

  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations;

  • Assist in the creation of a safe work environment by recommending actions that will improve the effectiveness of the SHERQ program.



Supervisory Responsibilities




  • Supervise the work of officers in the department to ensure they perform their work effectively.

  • An interface between management and clients



General Duties




  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

  • Well documented Standard Operating Procedures for easier effective operations




Required Skills or Experience


Education




  • Degree/HND in Logistics, procurement and/or supply chain management



Experience




  • Minimum 2 years working experience in similar role



Knowledge




  • Ability to and support key negotiations with supplier’s pre and post contract award.  

  • Knowledge in the Telecom engineering industry

  • Knowledge of materials and tools used in the telecom industry.

  • MS Office applications.
