Job Description



  • Reports to: Board of Directors, Agave Rural Bank Plc. (AgRB)

  • Mandate: Delivery of Strategic and Operational Leadership to AgRB



Role Summary


The CEO will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for AgRB, administering, managing and directing the affairs of the Bank in accordance with the policies, control and direction of the Board of Directors. He/She will ensure the profitability and sustainability of the Bank, within the risk limits set by the Board and the Regulator, through delivering superior returns to all stakeholders, managing the Bank’s Capital and Earnings responsibly and ensuring sound operational and HR practices with efficient service delivery to all clients of the Bank.


 


Duties


Leadership and Management 



  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the implementation of the Bank’s strategic plans in line with the direction set out by the Board of Directors

  • Work in coordination with, maintain, actively engage and support a strong and effective Board of Directors

  • Achieve growth in business levels, targets and other key performance indicators in line with the Bank’s strategic imperatives.

  • Provide oversight of the Management team. Seek to increase the professional effectiveness of Management by communicating current value strategies and objectives, assigning accountabilities, planning, and monitoring performance.

  • Own and drive Compliance with all the regulatory and financial frameworks in relation to the operation of AgRB.

  • Function as the bridge between the Bank and external partners, clients and agencies. Develop and nurture strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders. 

  • Promote and effectively communicate the Bank’s programs and accomplishments. 

  • Capably represent the Bank at official functions and meetings. 



Quality Management



  • Assume overall responsibility for the implementation of the quality management processes approved in the Strategic Plan.

  • Promote approved quality standards and make recommendations for further improvement.

  • Monitor the general operations, products, competitors, strategies, costs and other risk areas of operations to ensure that the Bank’s activities are consistent with the business strategy, risk appetite and policies approved by the Board.

  • Build, protect and enhance the Bank’s brand value and visibility.



Professional Development of Management and Staff




  • Hire, lead, coach, develop and retain exceptionally talented staff at AgRB.

  • Promote the requirements of the Strategic Plan in respect of all aspects of training of Management and Staff.



Research and Development



  • Initiate and direct relevant evaluative research activities. Drive the introduction of new and innovative products.

  • Direct the modernization of the Bank, implementing new operating systems, computerized processing systems, and business development methodologies




Required Skills or Experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University, ideally in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field 

  • Advanced degree or certification strongly preferred.

  • Full membership of the ACIB will be an advantage.

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience or demonstrated elevated level of success related to finance, banking, and/or related area. 

  • Deep knowledge of Rural Banking and overall Banking industry in Ghana 

  • Proven managerial experience or demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team in a financial organization. 

  •  Proven capacity to effectively accomplish and exceed expectations in respect of the duties described herein.
