Job Description


Jhpiego will register in The Gambia to pursue partnerships and anticipated USG funding. The consultant will work on behalf of Jhpiego to facilitate legal registration and technical scoping. 

  • Duration: March/April 2024 (23 days)

  • Location: Banjul, The Gambia 


Scope of Work

Legal Registration:

  • Coordinate with Jhpiego and local law firm to facilitate NGO clearance and registration.


  • Complete desk review of national strategies, national health and malaria data, and USAID strategies

  • Prepare list of key stakeholders and coordinate with Jhpiego to interview/meet with during scoping visits

  • Develop a matrix of all INGOs and local NGOs working in The Gambia

  • Develop a summary of all USAID programs in The Gambia including technical areas of focus, geography, partners, and funding

  • Coordinate logistics for Jhpiego travel to The Gambia including scheduling meetings with Ministry of Health, USAID, NMCP, academic institutions, local NGOs, and district health offices

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must have a development background. A Master’s Degree in Public Health is an added advantage

  • Must be knowledgeable with INGO legal and registration requirements in The Gambia

  • Familiarity with The Gambian Health Systems and reporting structure and demonstrated ability to collaborate with government-level officials to strengthen program implementation

  • Familiarity with working and collaborating with a wide range of local and international partner organizations

  • A good understanding of workings in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, and intense pressure to perform

  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building, and coordination

  • Excellent writing and communications skills, including demonstrated technical writing skills for publication
