Vacancy: Plant Supervisor

Job Description

The plant supervisor shall report to the plant manager and the production manager. He/she is supposed to carry out the following duties.

• Adhere to all the safety requirements at the plant (PPEs such as helmets, Goggles, ear plugs and steel toe boots are mandatory Adhere to all the safety requirements at the plant (PPEs such as helmets, Goggles, ear plugs and steel toe boots are mandatory.


• Coordinate all the activities of the wash plant (stockpiling, feeding, washing, cleaning of concentrate etc.)


• Responsible for all the smooth run of all the various units of the plant.


• Make sure the monitor boys are washing well, the payloader operators are loading the prescribed ore and the throughput is as prescribed by the plant manager or production manager or the general manager.


• Inspect the process water regularly and inform the plant manager or the production manager or the general manager of any findings.


• Monitor the desilting of the sand pit and ensure that the operator is able to coordinate the task well.


• Coordinate with plant engineers and the technicians to plan the maintenance schedule of the plant such that, plant availability time will not reduce


• Supervises all aspects of plant operations (first level supervisor)


• Responds to safety and environmental incidents and serve as incident commander until relieved.


• Monitors and adjusts plant operating conditions in a manner that allows for safe, efficient and environmentally sound operations. This must be done in consultation with the plant metallurgist with approval from the plant manager or production manager or the general manager.


• Provides assistance and direction to the plant crew to allow for effective plant operation and problem resolution


• Coordinates activities between the Operations and Mechanical Departments during off-hours and bashing periods


• Conducts Safety Meetings for shift workers


• Investigates safety, environmental and quality incidents and report findings to the appropriate personnel


• Develops and trains personnel on their respective shifts


• Ensures all applicable reviews are done and documentation is completed by their respective shift for management systems, Unit Operating Procedures, and SHE Procedures


• Monitors plant operations and is directly responsible to initiate action to correct operating problems and improve plant operations


• Directs the activities of one shift of Plant crew and is responsible for the activities of that shift


• Directs activities, monitors plant operating conditions, and participates in emergency response activities


• Orders operating supplies and consumables such as Omo etc.


• Notifies the plant manager or the production manager or the general manager when reportable environmental incidents occur.


• Directs the activities of various contractors when available.


• Successfully supervises teams to foster a positive employee relations environment

Required Skills or Experience

• Degree in Metallurgical engineer and a minimum of Five (5) years its equivalent areas


• HND in Metallurgical engineer and a minimum of Ten years (10) years its equivalent areas


• Knowledgeable in Health and Safety precautions


• Must have good communication skills
