Working across 23 countries in sub-Saharan Africa as well as Cambodia, the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) VectorLink Project is equipping countries to plan and implement safe, cost-effective and sustainable life-saving malaria vector control interventions with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria. Specifically, the PMI VectorLink Project will build the capacity of country governments to use epidemiological, entomological, and coverage data to support the optimal deployment of vector control tools within each country context while promoting gender equity in all facets of planning and implementation.



We are looking for two (2) ITN Distribution Coordinators based in Accra or any part of Ghana (with extensive travel  to regions) to support PMI VectorLink’s Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) distribution work. The ITN Distribution Coordinator will support effective implementation of the 2020 school ITN distribution in 15 regions. A mobile application for reporting ITNs distributed in schools will be used for the 2020 school distribution—it will be piloted in two districts in early 2020 and will be scaled-up to 15 regions. 



The position requires a candidate with strong activity planning and coordination skills and effective stakeholder management.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work with key project stakeholders at regional, district and circuit levels. Additionally, the candidate should have extensive experience in training and program supervision.



Responsibilities

Provides operational support for school based-ITN distribution activities. Specific duties and responsibilities are to work with the VectorLink ITN team, SHEP and the NMCP to:




  • Train regional, district and circuit teams on distribution protocols including ITN use and care social and behavior change activities to increase ITN acceptance, use and care

  • Facilitate coordination among district teams, GHSC-PSM and third-party logistics contractors in distribution of ITNs to district education stores and subsequently to schools in assigned regions

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the schools ITN distribution in assigned regions with the overall responsibility of ensuring quality distribution and reporting of ITNs to pupils. Key to this role is timely anticipation of challenges and addressing those challenges.

  • Ensure entry of schools ITN distribution data by circuit supervisors

  • Support the VectorLink Ghana team in data validation and distribution processes and make recommendations for future campaigns

  • Conduct field supervision visits to assigned implementation regions, document findings, propose corrective actions and work with relevant stakeholders and the VectorLink ITN team to address the findings.

  • Participate in external meetings, technical working groups, coordination meetings, etc. that impact the successful and smooth running of project activities.

  • Contribute in documenting best practices and challenges in the use of mobile application for ITNs distributed in schools and make recommendations for future campaigns.


Deliverables




  • Verbal briefings and debriefings with PMI VectorLink and partners, as requested.

  • Training and field supervision report submitted one month after completion of distribution




Required Skills or Experience




  • Relevant graduate degree (MPH, MBA, MSc, etc.) in public health, development management, logistics management, marketing, or business. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of additional relevant experience.

  • The position requires a candidate with at least 3 years of relevant experience working with malaria control programs in Ghana, preferably ITN-related programs.  A demonstrated leader in the field of malaria control in Ghana, with an established reputation.  Additionally, the candidate must have experience in designing or managing distribution activities.
