JOB PURPOSE


Plan and supervise the construction of a Faecal Treatment Plant in Tamale from start to finish. To organize and also oversee construction procedures using construction methodologies and ensure completion in a timely and efficient manner without exceeding budget. 


 


REPORTS TO: General Manager


 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project

  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities

  • Acquire equipment and material, and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies

  • Supervise the work of labourers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed

  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports

  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues




Required Skills or Experience




  • Must have BSc degree in engineering (civil or structural) or its equivalent with at least 10 years post qualification experience in construction

  • Must be a member of GhIE or any relevant professional body

  • A master’s degree in sanitary or Environmental engineering will be an added advantage

  •  Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification will also be an added advantage


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED




  • Proven experience as construction project manager

  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, materials and project management principles

  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards

  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite

  • Must be familiar with construction/project management software

  • Must have outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Must be a team player with leadership abilities
