Job Description

• Ensures smooth and efficient operation of the process plant 


• Control and organize shift labour for maximum output.


• Control the entire Plant during the shift in the absence of the Head of Process Engineering and the Process Engineer


• Monitor plant operating parameters and ensure production targets are met or exceeded.   


• Ensure safe working practices and maintenance of high housekeeping standards.


• Monitors plant equipment performance and ensures the maximum availability of the units.


• Optimize reagent dosage so as to minimize wastage and to achieve low operating cost.


• Liaise with maintenance team during breakdown and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure critical jobs are completed on time for smooth plant operations and unplanned downtime. 


• Generate report on daily plant shift operations and conducts Shift handover meetings


• Troubleshoot to identify bottle necks during operations and initiate corrective actions.


• Assist in controlling costs i.e. reduce waste, improve operational control, etc.


• Liaise with security officers to ensure low security related incidents.


• Provide motivation and leadership to subordinates and to promote safe working environment. 


• Ensure adherence to all regulatory and industry standard working procedures and maintain order.

Required Skills or Experience

• Must be a Bachelor’s Degree holder in any of these: Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Minerals Engineering, Materials Engineering and Sanitary Engineering


• Not less than Three (3) years working experience in the processing industry with 2 years in supervisory role

• Demonstrated knowkedge in waste Water / Water Treatment 


• Experience in Biological treatment plant


• Conflict management skills


• Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills


• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders


• Ability to work effectively with all categories of employees


• People management skills


• Knowledge in information technology (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD)
