The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) is a voluntary, not for profit organization that undertakes advocacy and service delivery in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Ghana.  PPAG is a Member Association (MA) of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). It is governed by respectable volunteers who are the members of the Association. The Governing body, formulate policies which are implemented by staff.




Job Description



PLANNED PARENTHOOD ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (PPAG),  REQUEST FOR CONSULTANCY SERVICES



PPAG, a leading NGO in the development and delivery of cutting-edge Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right information, education and services to Ghanaians, especially young people, seeks to engage the services of a consultant to Review and Standardize Sexuality Education Facilitators Manual and Guide for Adolescent Girls and Young People. The Manual once completed, will be used to train Facilitators for Reproductive Health Education and Services for Young People to deliver education and information to their peers at the community level.



The Facilitators Manual and Guide when developed, should help the Facilitators to conduct sessions following clear guide, steps, and materials and content that makes the sessions easy for their participants to follow. The consultant specifically will be expected to review, improve and redesign a newly drafted manual, making it more adolescent and young people friendly, illustrative and demonstrative.



The desired consultant is expected to have hands-on experience in developing materials for young people and be able to adapt existing materials and tools to meet the needs of adolescent girls.

TOR For recruitment and engagement of a consultant to lead the Review, Organize and Make Fit-For-Purpose SRH/SBBV/Gender Adolescent and Young People’s Facilitation Manual



1.1 Introduction

Following the successful selection of its IPs for the 7th Country Programme, UNFPA is supporting PPAG to implement part of its Child Marriage programme intervention in a number of Districts across Ghana. The Child Marriage Programme among others is expected to empower adolescent girls at risk of or affected by child marriage and other harmful practices as well as boys with appropriate SRHR information with particular focus on SGBV, gender norms, empowerment and rights among others. To do this effectively, PPAG seeks to engage the services of a consultant to review and upgrade its newly drafted Sexuality Education Manual to make it user friendly and illustrative to young people while ensuring that all critical SRH, SGBV and Gender norms are addressed in a simplified and practical way for USE BY YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE DELIVERY OF SEXUALITY EDUCATION AMONG THEIR PEERS.



1.2 Expected Outputs

The consultant, when recruited and engaged will be expected to achieve the following;




  1. Submit an inception report upon signing contract

  2. Review the existing draft manual or guide to make it user friendly to young people

  3. Recommendations of appropriate illustrations, diagrams, images and steps for the manual and guide

  4. Address key issues on sexual and reproductive health of young people including on Child marriage, SGBV, Gender norms and with demonstration and illustration content and procedures

  5. Submit a final developed Facilitators manual/guide. 


1.3 Time Line

The consultant has a total of 15 Days to ensure the completion of the assignment to the point of submitting the final approved facilitator’s manual and guide.




Required Skills or Experience



1.4 Qualifications Required

The expected consultant must be a well experienced in the field of gender-responsive adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health, materials development and sexuality education approach and pedagogy. Both academic and professional experience at the graduate level with demonstrated experience is required.
