Background

The Cape Coast Teaching Hospital is an agency of the Ministry of Health responsible for tertiary health care delivery, medical education and research. The Board of the Hospital is seeking for qualified candidates to fill the following vacancy.




Job Description



Job Purpose




  • Provide direction and advice in the efficient management and delivery of quality clinical care services, teaching, research and development within the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.


Functions




  • Lead in the development of clinical care policies, guidelines, protocols and standards.         

  • Take a pro-active role in the development and implementation of clinical services in the hospital in accordance with the National Policy

  • Take a lead role in ensuring that high clinical standards are met in the provision of specialist medical services.

  • Take a lead role in maintaining skills and knowledge in the specialist fields through an agreed CPO plan, in line with the outcome of the annual appraisal process

  • Lead and contribute to clinical supervision and promote conduct of clinical research and development using evidence-based approach.

  • Undertake any other responsibility assigned by the CEO.


Duration of Contract




  • The position is on 4 year contract basis subject to renewal upon satisfactory work and conduct. Therefore applicants should not be more than fifty (56) years by August 01, 2020.


NB: Interested persons who wish to apply for the positions must be on payroll of any of the agencies under the Ministry of Health.




Required Skills or Experience



The Person must be a Specialist in any of the Medical discipline and have the following:




  • Be a registered member of Medical and Dental Council in good standing

  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical or surgical discipline (Membership or Fellowship). Preferably Consultant or Senior Specialist.

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years working experience in Medicine, of which five (5) years should have been in management at senior level.

  • Evidence of leadership and continuing professional development and training in Health management

  • Knowledge in coordinating and implementing Research and development programmes
