Job Description

Responsiblilties

• Crop production and disposal


• Care of livestock


• Receipt and storage of supplies


• General farm maintenance.


• Receives and stores farm supplies.


• Harvest and inspect crops


• Preparing and maintaining the agricultural area


• Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress 


• Fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops.


• Plant seeds, or transplant seedlings by hand.


• Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungi, and weeds


• Move shrubs, plants


• Direct and monitor the activities of work crews as they plant, weed, or harvest


• Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.

Required Skills or Experience

• A degree in Agriculture or related field. 


• Age should not be less than 35 years.


• Ability to plan and direct large scale diversified farm activities, to supervise large groups of farm workers in farm activities and to direct skilled and unskilled employees in varied farm operations.


• Ability to keep records of time, production and costs, and to make reports and recommendations for improvement in methods and equipment.


• Must be results oriented.


• Must be prepared to stay on the farm.
