Job Description


iDE Ghana, an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in the Agriculture and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sectors is recruiting a Government And Community Affairs Coordinator (GCAC).

  • DURATION OF CONTRACT 3 months subject to renewal

  • BASIC SALARY GHS 3,260.83



 


GENERAL DEFINITION OF JOB ROLE


The Government and Community Affairs Coordinator (GCAC) plays a key role in supporting the Sama Sama Managing Director in managing government and community relations. The GCAC will work both in the target communities / districts and Head Office, ensuring the effective increase in key community and government stakeholder’s knowledge of, support for and participation in a gender sensitive and environmentally sound market-based sanitation and hygiene strategy. 


 


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP


Reports to the Chief Marketing and Community Affairs Officer


 


KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Key Responsibilities include:



  • Engage Key Actors: Identify and secure key government and community relationships in order to develop partnership opportunities with key influences that can be leveraged across all regional markets

  • Relationship Building:  Execute strategic plan to grow and strengthen relationships and revenue opportunities with corporate, educational, community and government channels.

  • Conduct Workshops: On sanitation market development for the government and communities. including gender sensitivity and environmental considerations.

  • External Communication: Correspond with external stakeholders to keep them informed of program developments and milestone achievements

  • Implement the Government Affairs Strategy:  Leading on completing strategic activities to enhance the understanding of government sanitation marketing and alleviate challenges to scale up due to the regulatory environment.

  • Conduct Exposure Visits: Sanitation market development exposure visits for government officials.




Required Skills or Experience



  • Graduated from university with a degree in a relevant field.

  • At least 8 years’ proven experience, track record and network at central and local government as well as community engagement in Ghana.

  • At least 8 years work experience in project management and government relations

  • Experience working in rural areas and with local government

  • Capacity to analyze products/process/people and think out of the box

  • Strong organizational skills – including attention to details, multi-tasking, following schedules.

  • Available for regular travel within 3 Northern Regions of Ghana

  • Knowledge of sanitation and small business management is an asset

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented

  • Excellent spoken and written English

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with Wrike Collaboration Space is an asset

  • Holds a Valid Riding License and Capability to ride a Motorbike
