Job Description


DKT AWA’s is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Intern for its Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Department.




  • Reporting To: Senior Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Duration:  One year



 



Scope of Position



The Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will work closely with M&E team and other program staff in various M&E activities including design, data collection, analysis, data quality assessments and other robust research activities. S/he will contribute to report writing of program performance and dissemination of evaluation findings. S/he will assist with coordination of evaluation and monitoring activities in the field ensuring that data are used for decision making and program improvements. If successful after the period of internship, the Intern might be considered to transition to a permanent staff position in the organization.



Specific Duties and Responsibilities




  • Lead Data Quality Assessments (DQA) for program activities including, facility service uptake, referrals, family planning activations and adherence to media buys/schedules and work with respective actors to implement corrective actions where needed;

  • Assist the M&E Manager with the timely utilization and update of the organization’s database “DHIS” and reporting of results;

  • Participate in all M&E activities including designing and implementation of studies/assessments, developing data collection instruments, preparation of dummy tables, analysis and report writing;

  • Assist the Snr Manager M&E and Manager -M&E with the coordination of M&E activities in the field ensuring that data are used for decision making and program improvement; and

  • Perform other program duties as assigned by your supervisor.




Required Skills or Experience



  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Demography, Statistics, Sociology or related field.



Other Relevant Experience:




  • Experience with quantitative data analysis programs and report writing e.g.  SPSS, STATA, DHIS 2, or other comparable programs.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronic data collection approaches;

  • Computer literate including knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and

  • Ability to travel in-country about 30% of the time.
